Chemical Peels for Treating Age Spots

Chemical Peels are used to improve the look of Age Spots
   Little Downtime
Mild Redness or Irritation following the treatment

What is a Chemical Peel

Chemical peels involve the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin. The depth of the peel depends on the type of chemical and the method of application. The solution dissolves the damaged, age-spotted surface tissue. The damaged skin is then replaced with a more youthful looking layer. The fresh surface layer is also smoother and less wrinkled.

Treatment

Prior to the application of the chemical peel, the skin is cleansed of surface oils. The chemical agent is then applied. You may feel an itching or tingling sensation during the treatment. This feeling will decrease when the chemical is neutralized.

After Treatment

There is usually little downtime from a chemical peel, though you may experience some redness or irritation immediately following the treatment. The appearance of age spots or sun spots will be markedly improved.

Consult a Physician

It is advisable to consult with a physician for more information about age spots and their treatment.
